Youths under various pro-Tinubu and Alia support groups flooded the streets of Makurdi on Thursday, staging a mass rally in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia’s potential second-term bids.
The demonstration, which coincided with Nigeria’s Democracy Day, saw the youths marching through major roads in the state capital, waving banners, chanting slogans, and expressing renewed confidence in the leadership of both men.
Organized under the coalition of Tinubu/Alia support groups, the rally culminated at the popular roundabout leading to the Benue Government House. The crowd, waving party flags, gathered in anticipation of an address from Governor Alia.
June 12 is marked annually as Democracy Day in Nigeria, in honour of the late Chief Moshood Abiola, widely regarded as the winner of the annulled 1993 presidential election.
