The officers from Area F Division, Politics Nigeria gathered were on the streets to ensure law and order.

The protesters stormed the streets of Lagos to mark the nation’s 26th Democracy Day celebration.

In their numbers, the protesters condemned the growing hardship and incessant killing of Nigerians across states of the country.

The protesting group is made up of individuals and members of several civil society organisations who have raised concerns over the worsening economic conditions of Nigeria.

They also condemned some of the policies and reforms adopted by President Bola Tinubu’s administration since assuming office on May 29, 2023.

While the protest is yet to have officially commenced in Lagos, other states including Kano have also indicated interest in joining the movement.

Recall that President Tinubu was earlier scheduled to address Nigerians in a Democracy Day broadcast.

However, the live broadcast was cancelled as the Nigerian government announced that the president will be attending a joint National Assembly session with the lawmakers.

The president is expected to address citizens of the country at about 12 noon on Thursday, June 12, from the National Assembly complex.
