Lubem Terkura, popularly known as Aluta General and serving as Chief Press Secretary to the Principal Special Assistant on Youth and Media Mobilization to the Benue State Governor, has been suspended indefinitely for allegedly participating in protests against the recent killings in the state.

The suspension, conveyed in a letter dated June 15, 2025, and signed by Hon. Terver Atu, the Principal Special Assistant on Youth and Media Mobilization, takes immediate effect.

In the letter, Terkura was accused of working against the explicit directives of his principal, a move described as a serious breach of official trust and responsibilities.

“During the period of this indefinite suspension, you are to refrain from all official duties and responsibilities, and you are not permitted to represent this office or me in any capacity,” the letter stated.

Although no direct reference was made to the protests, sources familiar with the matter say Terkura’s suspension followed his visible involvement in demonstrations condemning the killings of civilians in several Benue communities.

The protests, which gained momentum in recent days, have drawn attention to the government’s handling of security in the state.
