The government of Benue State has declared a public holiday in honour of President Bola Tinubu.
In a notice issued by Deborah Serumun, the Secretary to the State Government, the Benue government said there would be a public holiday on Wednesday, June 18.
Serumun said, “This is in honour of the President and Commander-in-Chief of the armed forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Ahmed Bola Tinubu GCFR who is scheduled for a one-day visit to the State, to commiserate with the government and people of the State over incessant security crises.”
The SSG, however, stated that those engaged in essential services like health workers, security agencies and bankers are exempted from the holiday.
“Benue residents are urged to come out in en-masse to receive the President and his entourage to the State, on this Presidential Commiseration visit,” the notice added.
The president had on Monday announced that he would cancel his previous schedules to visit victims of the Yelewata attack.
President Bola Tinubu is now scheduled to visit Benue on Wednesday, June 18, to have a first-hand assessment of the impact of the attack on residents of the community.
