Peter Obi has reacted to the reports of the killing of farmers in Ikpakpara village, Agamede, Eha-Amufu community in Enugu State by some suspected armed herdsmen.

Obi, a former governor of Anambra State and the 2023 presidential candidate for the Labour Party said the killing of farmers in the community is heartbreaking.

Describing the incident as one sad news now too many in Nigeria, Obi said the community has been experiencing continuous attacks.

He called for a permanent solution to the ongoing disruption of honest and peaceful living by people within the community.

“My heart breaks for the Eha-Amufu people, for the grieving families, and for those still searching for their missing loved ones,” Obi said.

Stating that these killings must stop, Obi said citizens and leaders alike cannot continue to watch communities across the country bleed without any form of protection or justice for the people.

He said, “We cannot continue to allow our farmers to be afraid of going back to their farms. We cannot continue to allow insecurity.

“These Communities deserve not only our compassion but also real and immediate security intervention.

“To the people of Eha-Amufu: You are not alone. I offer my heartfelt condolences to your community and I pray that the souls of the departed rest in peace. May peace and security return to your land,” Obi added.
