President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday, visited some victims of the attack by suspected killer herdsmen in Yelewata town of Benue state.
During the visit, the president interacted with some of the survivors who were at the hospital receiving treatment.
Tinubu arrived in Makurdi, the capital city of Benue State at about 12.58 pm on Wednesday, June 18, for an on-the-spot assessment of the impact of the attack on Yelewata residents.
From the Tactical Air Command, Nigerian Air Force Base in Makurdi, he went straight to the hospital to visit the victims of the Yelewata attack.
Politics Nigeria gathers that the president later left the hospital for the new Banquet Hall of the Benue State Government House for a town hall meeting with stakeholders in the state.
The president’s visit is aimed at addressing some of the challenges of insecurity and the incessant killing of farmers and members of their families by armed herdsmen.
In addition to this, the president is also expected to meet with families of victims either killed or injured during the devastating attack.
Some of the key dignitaries expected to be present at the town hall meeting includeGovernor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State and Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State among other governors from the North-Central states.
The National Security Adviser (NSA), Nuhu Ribadu, Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), George Akume, service chiefs and other key stakeholders will also be present at the meeting.
