President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday, June 18, defied the flooding in Benue state to visit those affected by the recent suspected armed herdsmen attacks.
The president arrived in Makurdi, Benue State’s capital city at about 12.58 pm on Wednesday.
He arrived in the North Central state for his onward visit to Yelewata community in the Guma Local Government area where over 200 people were killed by some suspected killer herdsmen.
Tinubu got into the city through the Makurdi Airport located at the tactical air command, Nigerian Air Force Base.
Hours before his arrival, the streets of Markurdi from the Abuja Expressway were said to have been heavily flooded after it rained last night.
Recall that the president had earlier announced that he was cancelling all his engagements for Wednesday to visit Yelewata where killer herdsmen massacred over 200 people including women and children.
The attack has since been condemned nu many individuals and organisations including the secretary-general of the United Nations.
The international organisation in a statement on Tuesday said it was monitoring the incidents in Benue and others affected by various degrees of conflicts.
The UN also called on the government and relevant agencies to ensure that the killings in Benue and others are nipped in the bud and that perpetrators of the attacks are made to face justice.
