Former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, has condemned what he described as a “genocide” in Yelewata village, Guma LGA of Benue State, where over 200 civilians were reportedly butchered and burnt alive on the night of June 13.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday, Fani-Kayode labeled the killings “barbaric” and “utterly outrageous,” saying the victims were “cut into small pieces and burnt alive by a monstrous horde of evil barbarians.”
He warned that the scale and brutality of the massacre demand nothing less than the declaration of a state of emergency in Benue State.
“If there was ever a case to be made for declaring a state of emergency in any of our states, this is it!” he wrote.
Fani-Kayode accused the perpetrators of being part of a foreign-backed network of “psychotic land-grabbers” and “genocidal maniacs” attempting to plunge Nigeria into civil war and seize its land and resources.
He urged the Federal Government and security forces to “take the battle to the enemy,” whether Boko Haram, ISWAP, or any other terror group, insisting that “war is being waged against the Nigerian state.”
Calling for citizens to be empowered to defend themselves, he said: “We must grant our citizens the right to bear arms… We must be utterly ruthless in our dealings with the barbarians.”
“This madness has been going on for far too long. The only answer to tyranny and terror is resistance and strength,” he declared.
