Televangelist and Senior Pastor of House on the Rock, Paul Adefarasin, was questioned by detectives at the Lagos State Police Command on Tuesday over a viral video in which he was seen pointing what appeared to be a firearm at another motorist. The pastor voluntarily presented himself at the Command Headquarters in Ikeja for interrogation.

According to Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, investigators recovered the object in question and determined it was not a firearm but a stun gun—classified under prohibited anti-riot equipment. Following the questioning, Pastor Adefarasin provided a cautionary statement and was subsequently released on bail pending further investigations.

CSP Hundeyin provided an update on the Command’s official X handle, noting: “Pastor Paul Adefarasin, who turned himself in today at the Lagos State Police Command over a viral video where he was seen holding a gun-like object against another road user, was interrogated and he volunteered a cautionary statement to the police investigators.”

He added, “What was recovered from him, the gun-like object seen in the viral video, is not a lethal weapon or firearm but a stun gun which is a prohibited anti-riot equipment. The pastor has been granted bail while investigations continue into the case.”

The incident first came to light after a video circulated on social media showing Pastor Adefarasin allegedly drawing a weapon during a traffic altercation. In the aftermath, he emphatically denied possessing a gun during his Sunday church service, insisting the object was not a lethal weapon.

Court records confirm that the stun gun falls under the list of restricted items, and its possession by any individual outside of authorized security agencies is an offense. Sources within the police command say investigators are now examining the circumstances surrounding the incident, including how Adefarasin came into possession of the device and whether its use amounted to a breach of public peace.

As the investigation unfolds, Pastor Adefarasin remains free on bail. The Lagos State Police Command has urged anyone with additional information to come forward and assist with the ongoing inquiry.
