On the auspicious occasion of the anniversary of our beloved Nation’s independence, we join multitude of Nigerians to celebrate 65 years of unbreakable bond of brotherhood.
The challenges of the past inspire us, they dont define, the difficulty of today empower us and not destroy us and the hope for the best yet to come, does not cause us to despair but energizes us.
The Nigerian Youth Congress recognizes the challenges bideveling our country today, nevertheless, and in line with the mandate of the congress we are calling on all young Nigerians to persevere in hope, the task of Nation building is a onerous task and it requires patience, sacrifice and the collective buy in of all citizens.
The emergence of several programs targeted at impacting the youth of this country by the current administration is commendable, while we acknowledge marginal progress, we are quick to say that it is not uhuru yet, as there is still much to be done to drop the numbers of unemployment, to bridge the gap of underemployment and to guarantee equity and inclusion.
The diversity in our nation is a source of strength and must be treated as such, this will lay the foundation for improved social justice, equity and inclusion and ultimately slope down some of the ills emanating from the misapplication of social justice.
There is no gainsaying that the present administration has continued to launch programs meant to improve the lot of the Nigerian Youth most notable is the 250,000 free registration for MSME’s, the figures to be achieved remain a paltry figure in relation to the number of young Nigerians requiring one intervention or the other. Therefore, the FG must seek more indepth collaboration with reputable Youth organizations who have the data, structure and ability to translate policies into actions, by developing more far reaching and deep sinking intervention program for the youth.
Finally, the youth of Nigeria must come to consciousness of the fact that there is nobody else that will build our nation for us, therefore, we must set aside differences of tribe, faith and creed and unite ourselves in the struggle to build a great nation that we can proudly bequeath to our children. The job is hard, the road is rough and the wait long, but gladly we are starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel and to this we say resoundingly HOPE DEY!!!
God bless the Nigerian Youth Congress!
God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria!!
