Abuja, Nigeria – October 11, 2025:
Renowned legal practitioner and human rights advocate, Adamu Kabiru Adamu, has extended warm congratulations to the newly appointed Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), who he described as his former lecturer and mentor at the University of Jos.
In a heartfelt congratulatory message titled “Letter of Congratulations to the Newly Appointed INEC Chairman/Advice,” Adamu hailed the appointment as a reward for years of dedication, integrity, and excellence in both academia and public service.
He fondly referred to the new INEC boss as “The Father of the Law of Evidence,” describing him as a man whose wisdom, fairness, and discipline have continued to inspire generations of students and colleagues alike.
“Sir, your appointment is a testament to your years of dedication, integrity, and excellence in both academia and public service. This new role is yet another platform for you to demonstrate the wisdom, fairness, and discipline that have always defined your character,” he wrote.
Adamu urged the new INEC Chairman to uphold the principles of sincerity, transparency, and accountability in the discharge of his duties, noting that the task ahead involves the trust and destiny of the entire nation.
He further advised the appointee to remain vigilant and discerning, as not everyone within his inner circle may genuinely wish him well.
“As your former student and class representative, I humbly advise you to channel your mission towards national achievement — with a clear conscience, and with the firm intention to uphold the dignity and sanctity of your office without fear or favor,” Adamu added.
Reflecting on his days at the University of Jos, Adamu recalled the leadership lessons imparted by his lecturer, particularly the emphasis on patience, accountability, transparency, and tolerance.
“You always reminded me that leadership is not an easy task — that one’s priority must be the people they represent. Those words have remained with me ever since,” he wrote.
The human rights advocate expressed confidence in the Chairman’s ability to lead INEC with honor and distinction, urging him to let integrity continue to guide his actions.
Concluding his message, Adamu charged the new INEC chief to leave behind a legacy that would restore faith, integrity, and pride in Nigeria’s democratic system.
“Let history remember your legacy, and let your tenure be one that restores faith, integrity, and pride in our democracy. Make us proud, Sir — and make the entire Jossite community even prouder,” he concluded.
