A coalition of over 1,000 youth groups under the PDP Youth Vanguard for Renewed Hope has declared total support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027, hailing Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, as the “greatest political asset” produced by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in recent times.
In a statement signed on Sunday by the group’s National President, Hon. Charles Onoja, the coalition described Wike’s bold decision to support Tinubu as an act of patriotism and rare political courage.
“Wike is a lion of Nigerian politics and the greatest asset the PDP has ever produced in the interest of national unity. His declaration to lead President Tinubu’s 2027 campaign in Rivers State is not just political news, it’s a masterstroke,” Onoja said.
Wike recently announced on live television that he would champion Tinubu’s re-election efforts in Rivers State, sparking a nationwide debate.
But the youth coalition has now thrown its full weight behind both leaders, asserting that national interest must trump party lines.
Onoja emphasized that President Tinubu has earned the trust of many young Nigerians through his performance in key sectors like infrastructure, aviation reforms, the student loan initiative, and youth-focused job creation schemes.
“This is not about defecting to APC, it’s about standing with the truth,” Onoja stated.
He added: “President Tinubu has outperformed expectations. Young Nigerians, especially in the North, are no longer swayed by tired party propaganda. We want leadership that works — and Tinubu has delivered.”
The coalition also announced that grassroots mobilisation for Tinubu’s 2027 campaign has commenced across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones.
The group said structures are being activated in all 774 local government areas with town hall meetings, student engagements, religious sensitisation drives, and social media outreach campaigns already underway.
“Our plan, titled 10 Million Youth Votes for Renewed Hope, is more than a slogan. It is a full-scale movement, and we will soon present our blueprint to President Tinubu and Minister Wike at a youth summit in Abuja,” Onoja disclosed.
The group warned PDP leadership not to attack Wike, stating that alienating him would only drive more young voters away from the party.
“Rather than condemn Wike, the PDP should listen to him. He has his finger on the pulse of millions of young Nigerians.
“His decision reflects a desire to rise above outdated partisan politics and embrace competence and results,” the statement added.
The coalition concluded by reaffirming its commitment to supporting Tinubu’s administration and ensuring that Nigerian youths play a leading role in shaping the country’s political future.
“Come 2027, we will speak loudly with our PVCs. Tinubu has earned our respect. Wike has shown us the way. Together, they are the team Nigeria needs — and the youth will stand solidly behind them,” Onoja declared.
