Ali Ndume, the lawmaker representing Borno South, has described the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) as an overloaded ship that is capable of sinking.
Ndume condemned the numerous and unguarded defections of politicians from the opposition parties to the ruling APC and said the party appears to be in danger.
He said that, should the APC continue to accept the numerous defectors, there is the possibility of an implosion.
Ndume made these observations during an interview with Arise Television on Tuesday.
He also expressed his dissatisfaction with the trajectory of the ruling party under the leadership of President Bola Tinubu
The lawmaker while criticising the growing defection of politicians warned that there cannot be a true democracy without a strong opposition.
“Jumping ship without ideology or conviction weakens our democracy and endangers the future of the country,” Ndume said.
He added that despite all his observations, his loyalty remains with the APC for now.
“I still believe this president has the capacity to fix things but if nothing changes, I will have to reconsider. I will not go down with a sinking ship,” the lawmaker added.
