Some gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have killed Abdullahi Kpotun, the Kwara North ward chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Kpotun was killed alongside his son on Tuesday, June 24, in Lile Village in the Patigi Local Government Area of the state.
Confirming the incident, the publicity secretary for the PDP in Kwara, Shola Adewara said Kpotun and his son were killed during a kidnapping attempt.
Adewara said, “Yes, Alhaji Kpotun was killed by suspected gunmen. We are in a mourning mood.”
In addition, the Kwara Central Strategy team (KCST) on social media announced the death of Kpotun and his son.
The president of KCST in a statement signed by its president, Olayinka Oladimeji in a statement said the duo were killed by ruthless bandits.
“With heavy hearts, the Kwara Central Strategy Team (KCST) mourns the tragic killing of Kwara North PDP Ward Chairman in Patigi and his son by ruthless bandits.
“As a team built on service, sacrifice, and strategy, we stand in full solidarity with our brothers and sisters in Baruten, Kaiama, Edu, Moro, and Patigi.
“We pray for the souls of our fallen comrades. May their sacrifices not be in vain. We declare safety, divine guidance, and victory over fear. Kwara North shall rise again!,” Oladimeji said.
