Engineering Business School Nigeria Graduates First TechMBA Cohort, Redefining Engineers as Business Leaders

Lagos, Nigeria – April 4, 2026 — The Engineering Business School Nigeria (EBSN) has officially graduated the inaugural cohort of its TechMBA program, marking a significant milestone in the evolution of engineering education in Nigeria. The landmark ceremony brought together industry leaders, academic stakeholders, and families to celebrate a new generation of engineer-business leaders equipped to drive innovation and economic transformation.

Delivering the opening address, Vice Chancellor Engr. Prof. Sony Ali Emeka described the event as more than a graduation, calling it “a declaration that engineering is no longer confined to technical execution, but is evolving into a powerful force for enterprise, innovation, and economic transformation.”

The ceremony was graced by the President of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, Engr. Ali Alimasuya Rabiu FNSE,FAEng MFR alongside board members, faculty, industry partners, and distinguished guests.

Bridging Engineering and Business

According to Prof. Emeka, the TechMBA program was established to bridge the long-standing gap between engineering competence and business leadership. He noted that while engineers have historically demonstrated technical excellence, many lacked the structured exposure to business strategy, finance, and enterprise development required for leadership roles.

“The TechMBA was designed to change that narrative,” he said. “Our graduates have evolved from problem solvers into value creators, from technical specialists into strategic thinkers, and from participants in systems into architects of systems.”

Participants underwent intensive training in innovation, financial intelligence, leadership dynamics, and market positioning—preparing them to build solutions that are both technically sound and commercially viable.

Key Contributions and Goodwill Messages

Speaking at the event, the Chairman, Advisory Board of EBSN, Engr Rose Madaki, FNSE, congratulated the management of Engineering Business School Nigeria and the graduating participants on the successful completion of the inaugural TechMBA program. She emphasized teamwork, collaboration, and strategic partnerships as key drivers of business success and scalability, encouraging the graduates to adopt these principles as they advance in their careers.

The Guest Speaker, Jamila Mohammed Faniyi, Managing Director of M&E Kaiser Ltd, delivered an inspiring address, urging the graduates to leverage their combined technical and business expertise to create sustainable value, drive innovation, and seize emerging opportunities in the evolving global marketplace.

Also speaking, the Lead Faculty, Engr Sunday Egbiki, PhD, FNSE, announced that preparations are underway for TechMBA Cohort 2, which will open soon. He revealed that Engineering Business School Nigeria is currently undergoing a major restructuring process, including the deployment of a new Learning Management System (LMS), aimed at enhancing the quality of delivery and overall learning experience.

A Call to Leadership and Impact

Addressing the graduating cohort, the Vice Chancellor charged them with three key mandates:
• Leadership: to lead people, systems, and ideas with integrity and vision
• Value Creation: to translate skills into measurable economic and societal impact
• Transformation: to challenge existing models, innovate boldly, and build scalable, globally competitive systems

“As pioneers of this program, you are not just graduates—you are founders of a legacy,” he emphasized.

Recognition and Appreciation

The Vice Chancellor extended appreciation to faculty members, sponsors, and partners for their commitment to excellence and their role in shaping the inaugural cohort. He also acknowledged the families and supporters of the graduates for their unwavering encouragement throughout the program.

Looking Ahead

Graduates were encouraged to embrace their roles as innovators and leaders in a rapidly evolving global economy.

“The future is not something you wait for—it is something you design,” Prof. Emeka affirmed.

The TechMBA program underscores EBSN’s mission of transforming engineers into business leaders capable of driving sustainable development and economic growth across Nigeria and beyond.
