Enough is Enough, Lawyer Tells Tinubu, Northern Governors Over Zamfara Banditry

A legal practitioner and human rights advocate, Adamu Kabiru Adamu, has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and governors of the northern states to urgently step up the fight against banditry and terrorism in the region, particularly in Zamfara State.

In a statement dated August 12, 2025, Adamu expressed deep concern over the persistent attacks that have led to loss of lives, destruction of property, displacement of families, and the collapse of socio-economic activities in affected communities.

“The safety and security of citizens remain a constitutional duty and moral obligation of government at all levels. I therefore urgently call upon your good offices to take swift, coordinated, and sustained measures to bring an end to these acts of terror,” he said.

The human rights advocate urged security agencies to strengthen intelligence gathering, conduct more joint operations, and deploy rapid response strategies to ensure that no safe haven exists for criminal elements.

He warned that politics, personal interests, or governance failures should not be allowed to cost the lives of innocent Nigerians, stressing that “every life lost is a national tragedy.”

Adamu added that the people of Zamfara and the entire northern region are counting on the leadership of both the Federal Government and state governments to restore safety, rebuild hope, and strengthen national unity.

The letter was also copied to all northern state governors and heads of security agencies across the country.
