Chidinma Ekile, famously known as Chidinma, is a singer, songwriter, and actress.

She was born on May 2, 1991, in Ketu, Lagos State, to Martha and Hillary Ekile.

Chidinma, a native of Imo state, was raised in the Ikorodu area of Lagos.

She won the 2010 edition of the renowned MTN music show Project Fame.

Chidinma holds a bachelor’s degree in Sociology from the University of Lagos (UNILAG).

Chidinma started her career as a church choir member while growing up. She rose to prominence in 2010 when she was announced the third edition of the Project Fame West Africa competition winner.

She rose through the ranks to be the winner among more than eight thousand contestants at the audition and eighteen selected contestants for the final phases at the Fame Academy.

Chidinma, alongside 17 other contestants, spent ten weeks at the academy, where they were mentored by musical professionals who coached them through voice coaches, motivation, and the business of music.

In addition, Chidinma and other contestants were taken through professional choreography drills.

At the end of the show, Chidinma emerged as the winner, bagging several endorsement deals and winning prizes like N2.5 million, a 2011 Toyota RAV4, and a production deal.

Chidinma released her debut album, “Chidinma”, after the show. The album featured top Nigerian artists like the late Sound Sultan, Olamide, and the Project Fame 3 All-Stars. The project contained eleven tracks with hit songs like Jankoliko, Kedike, and Winner, amongst others.

The album Cobhams Asuquo and Oscar Heman Ackah produced was released under the Capital Hill Record label.

Later, Chidinma dropped the Kedike music video in 2012, which featured Dammy Krane and was directed by Clarance Peters.

In 2013, her single “Emi Ni Baller “featuring Illbliss and Tha Suspect peaked at number 7 on Vanguard’s list of the Top 10 songs made in 2013.

Legendury Beatz also produced the remix of the single-featured vocals from Wizkid. In June 2013, the music video was released by Capital Dreams Pictures.

Later, Chidinma released “Oh Baby “produced by Young D. The single became an anthem on the lip of Nigerians. She released the remix afterwards, featuring Flavour N’abania.

In 2014, she dropped the video directed by Clarence Peters, Ngozi Nwosu and OC Ukeje.

Later in 2017, she released another hit single, “Fallen In Love,”. And its video has amassed a whopping 77 million views on YouTube.

Aside from music, Chidinma is also an actor. She starred in Kunle Afolayan’s ‘The Bridge’ in 2017

After a long vacation from music, Chidinma reappeared in 2021 when she announced she was going into gospel music.

She announced her transition into the gospel world with her debut gospel single, Jehovah Over Do, on May 2, 2021. Later, she dropped a six-track EP to dive deep into the gospel music world.

There is no public information about Chidinma’s relationship, but she has previously been rumoured to have dated Wizkid, Phyno, Flavour, and Dammy Krane, amongst others.
